In that he spent time to do this, yeah - I don't doubt his sincerity.

Instead of smashing toys they should have sent the toys and contributions to the children. Im really sure the kids in Darfur are saying "Thanks Matt, now we can have playtime"

Given that anyone who doesn't care about the GENOCIDE in Darfur is a complete and total shrub, I suspect he does care about Darfur. Is he or anyone else doing enough about it? NO! Are we engaged in mind-less displays to naively numb and salve our collective conscience? Yes! In that sense Matt is with us and is the perfect poster child for our inaction. It would be embarrassing if it weren't so monstrous!

He does care at least to do the photo shoot. But does he care beyond that? No, probably not. He got paid to destroy things. For that amount of time, I'd care too.

Ive been signed up for the Darfur newsletter for over a year (I contribute too) and Matt has been with it since its inception, so I pretty much think he's serious

I also think that this was done to raise awareness of the situation over there, not as a personal publicity stunt-- just my opinion
