Beatie, 34, who was born a woman, had his breasts surgically removed and legally changed his gender from female to male, he revealed on The Oprah Winfrey Show in April.
Although he took hormones and lived as a man, he said he kept his female sex organs in hopes to get pregnant one day.
He said his pregnancy was a "human desire" and that as a person he has "the right to have my own biological child."
Being pregnant, said Beatie, did not make him feel more feminine.
"It doesn't make me want to go and shave my legs or something," he told Winfrey. "I'm a man, I just happen to be a pregnant man."
The most important message, said Beatie: "Different is normal and love makes a family. And that's all that matters."
He is currently at work on a memoir, Love Makes a Family: A Memoir of Hardship, Healing and an Extraordinary Pregnancy, due in September.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against transfolk, I have a few really good friends that are trans - and we ALL agree on this one. It's a fucking joke and not to mention insulting to the rest of the gay community. We strive for Equality and to prove that we're "normal" (what the hell ever that is) so that we can have the same rights & liberties as every other American. One of the things used against us is the conservatives calling us "unnatural" and "perverse".

I am deeply concerned for the psychological state of this child. It is going to grow up in (mild) limelight as this is not a story that is going to fade easily. As a result, this child will never have a "normal" life. Further, what about when this kid's like 4 or 5 years old and asks to see pictures of his "mother" when she was pregnant? How the hell are they supposed to explain that in terms a 5 year old will understand?
I think this was very poorly thought out and I REALLY think it should NOT be in the media. I understand the media is all over it because it's scandalous, but, on the other hand, they single handedly just set back the fight for Equality by about 10-20 years, despite the fact that this couple is by far, NOT the norm for the LGBTTQQI Community.

Its her/his body...I think she/he should be allowed to do whatever he likes with it including have a child. Thats the same AMERICAN right we all have, the responsiblity of raising their child belongs to them and it's their business whether the media get ahold of it or not and we were all screwed up as kids and most of us turned out fine...I am sure their child will too. Well, you're wrong on one thing. The media didn't get ahold of it - THEY called the media. That, in & of itself, is what I have the biggest issue with.
Okay, let's clear up some things for you ignorant people. One, he IS a MAN. The ONLY thing female that he has is the uterus INSIDE which he kept to have a baby. It's something that EVERYONE should experience, I think, because it's a unique perspective. He has all the man parts except that and even has a masculine voice. They will probably not be telling their new baby girl that her daddy was once a girl, and if they do it will be later when she's old enough. I'll bet you $10 that she will hate those of you who think it's your place to judge him when it's not. No, I won't calm down. If he wants to have babies, he is more than welcome. It's a bond that some couples want to share, in their case they can actually share it instead of having someone else have their baby. His wife was going to be the one to have the baby, but she is unable to have children anymore so they opted to have him instead. I don't see the difference if he has a uterus or not, I mean, if he had it taken out would you respect him as a man? That's stupid. That's like being predjudice against blacks and saying if they'd just take the white off then they could be equals.

The last statement I would agree with, the media rarely gets the facts right. However, don't even try to spell me out as some uneducated, ignorant asshat that doesn't know what he's talking about.
