Quote: "The night before, Letterman had said McCain's decision to suspend his campaign to deal with the economic crisis "didn't smell right." Letterman substituted MSNBC's "Countdown" host - and critic of the Arizona senator - Keith Olbermann when McCain called him to say he wouldn't appear Wednesday.
The comic was unhappy when McCain sat for an interview with Katie Couric instead of him Wednesday - and even more perturbed to learn that McCain didn't leave New York until Thursday.

Letterman should let this go. It's making him look like a bitter old man. I understand he takes it a bit personal having known McCain but get over it. Perhaps joking around wasn't the best thing to do with our economy on the brink of disaster. Leave the political "comedy" to John Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

no your missing the point he's angry because McCain's people told him that they couldn't do it because McCain had to go back to Washington to fix the economic situation and instead of immediately going back he ended up on Katie Courics Show instead.

I see the point. I don't know what happened between him going to the airport and ending up with Katie. I agree that on the surface it didn't look good, but considering the circumstances, I still think Katie was a better forum IF you had time to go on the air. Letterman should know that.

The point is Letterman reaches FAR more viewer in the common sector then Katie does... you want the common man to buy your message, because the common man is taking it in the ass right now from the republican party, no jobs, gas prices soaring, food prices following suit... You want to convince US that we don't want change, we want more of the Bush Doctrine... in order to do that, YOU HAVE TO TALK TO US, not Couric. You speak to US through Letterman and other common-man outlets... Not the night world "news" because we don't trust that outlet anymore... (Remember 9/11 and the "war"?)

I respectfully disagree. You want to reach the VOTERS. People watching that interview with Katie are much more likely to actually vote IMHO, especially republican. Not to mention how hard it would be to get the seriousness of the economy issue communicated with Letterman cracking jokes trying to lighten the mood. Besides, Letterman that night and potentially holding up a debate to go back to the Congress the next day doesn't look right.

but you got to love the koolaide drinking on the left ... i dont understand how anyone can live a life worth living when you are filled with that much blind rage and hate ... sad commentary on the educational standards of America when people cant even find anything intelligent to say.
